Listening

能聽辨簡易句子的字詞、重音、語調與節奏,且能聽懂簡易歌謠和韻文的重點。但對於兒童故事或短劇內容尚未能了解。 實例:能聽辨簡易聖誕節歌曲,如《We Wish You A Merry Christmas》的字詞表達重點,但因無法掌握較長句型而無法聽懂聖誕節相關兒童短劇和故事,如《小氣財神》或《紅鼻子魯道夫》等。

Student is able to identify the word pronunciation, intonation pattern, stress and rhythm of an English sentence in sound. S/he is also able to listen and understand simple English songs and rhymed compositions, but s/he cannot understand Children's stories or plays. E.g. Student understands the key story line in simple Christmas carols such as "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", but s/he cannot understand longer sentences. So s/he is not able to understand children's Christmas play like ""A Christmas Carol"" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".

Speaking

能以簡易的英語看圖說話,且能進行簡易的角色扮演(role play)。但無法以簡易的英語表達個人情緒與需求,對於日常生活中相關的人事物或簡易的短劇表演等也無法表達與參與。 實例:能根據花瓶或車子等日常常見物品圖示進行簡易看圖說話,如描述顏色或型態等。但由於主題延伸以及詞彙量不足,而無法敘述日常生活中所見之街道、店家或路人等景物。

Student can use simple English to talk about pictures and do role-play activities. But s/he is not able to use simple English to express personal needs, feelings or emotions. S/he also cannot participate in in simple English short plays. E.g. Student can talk about pictures about the things in daily life situation like describing the color or shape of a flower vessel or a car. But the student is lacking of vocabulary, S/he cannot describe what s/he sees in daily life situation such as street, shops or people.

Reading

能看懂簡單的句子並能藉圖畫、標題和書名猜測或推論主題。但無法辨識英文的連續書寫體(cursive writing),也無法藉視覺輔助了解簡易故事及兒童短劇的大致內容。 實例:能藉由繪本封面之標題或圖畫猜測知名繪本《The Very Hungry Caterpillar》的主題與主角為一隻很餓的毛毛蟲,但由於圖畫輔助有限,而無法透過繪本中的圖畫了解簡易故事的大致內容。

The student is able to guess the content of a book by its title or the pictures provided within. But s/he cannot read and understand simple stories and plays by using various visual aids. E.g. The student is able to guess the main character of the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is a starving caterpillar. But the visual aid provided in the book is limited, the student is not able to understand the story well.
