Listening

能聽懂日常生活對話和淺易影片及短劇的大致內容,且能辨識對話或訊息的情境及主旨。但尚未能聽懂廣播、氣象報告及廣告等。 實例:能聽懂他人談論天氣相關話題,如How's the weather today?但因不熟悉氣象報導用語,如溫度概況報導:with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the mid-40s(氣溫最高在70幾度, 最低在40幾度),而無法聽懂CNN或BBC的氣象報告。

Student is able to roughly understand the content of a daily conversation, simple English video or play, but s/he has difficulties to understand the content of English videos or news. E.g. Student understands the topics about weather in a conversation, such as "How's the weather today?" But the student cannot understand the CNN or BBC weather forecast because s/he is not familiar with the weather forecast terms. Weather forecast: with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 40s)

Speaking

能以簡易的英語介紹國內外風土民情及朗讀簡易文章,也能作一般的自我介紹。但無法以英語討論課程內容和作較完整的看圖敘述及轉述內容或故事。 實例:能以簡易英語向他人介紹The Grand Canyon(美國大峽谷)的位置及特色,如:The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona in the United States. The Colorado River carved out this 446 km long canyon with a width of about 6.4 to 29 km and a depth of over a 1.83 km. Though it is not the largest in the world, it was one of the first national parks in the United States(大峽谷位於美國亞利桑那州,科羅拉多河流經且切刻出長達446公里的峽谷地形,其寬達6.4至29公里以及深度超過1.83公里。雖然不是全世界規模最大,但為美國第一座國家公園)。但因字彙量不足,而無法於會議或其他小組討論中針對美國大峽谷的地形或自然生態相關圖片作較完整的看圖敘述,如:The Park contains several major ecosystems. Its great biological diversity can be attributed to the presence of five of the seven life zones and three of the four desert types in North America. Reading

可看懂與日常生活相關的淺易英文如路標、交通標誌、招牌等,也能讀懂常用的英文標示和圖表,但無法推論及閱讀文章大致文意。 實例:能看懂英文菜單或食材目錄等淺易圖表,但由於不熟悉文章的閱讀技巧,而無法閱讀與料理相關之報章雜誌。

The student can read and understand commonly used English signs like road signs, shop sign, and diagrams. But S/he is not able to read and understand the message an English paragraph convey by reading it through carefully. E.g. The student can read English menus or food catalogues or other simple charts. But s/he cannot understand English newspaper or magazine because s/he is not familiar with the reading skills.

Writing

能將簡易的中文句子譯成英文,也能依提示書寫簡短的段落,但無法根據圖表或表格書寫簡要故事或說明。 實例:能根據四格漫畫書寫簡短段落,但由於字彙量不足,而無法進一步書寫成簡要故事。

Students can translate simple Chinese sentences into English, and are able to following instructions to write longer English paragraphs. However, they cannot combine these paragraphs to create a complete story or write instructional articles, even with help. E.g. Students can longer English paragraphs based on the instructional pictures given, but they cannot combine these paragraphs to create a complete story.
